When we consult our students we repeatedly state a notion of NNCI as a networking platform for "next generation" and businesses to meet, a phrase pinched by Rector Natalia Sumtsova to describe the way in which the institute acts as a kind of sticky glue for all kinds of career support interaction of NNCI with business community.
Career opportunity advertising, processing job requests from businesses and enabling more in-depth relationships between students and hiring companies bear fruit. In 2004 - 91%, in 2005 - 93% and in 2006 94 % of NNCI graduate students landed on their jobs within first two months upon graduation. By repositioning NNCI for needs of market-oriented economy, the digital age and potentially providing a way to tap into business community that students cannot reach any other way, our career centre is already worth its weight in gold.
"Businesses on the one hand and students on the other, they're defining the experience, not us, - says Irina Skorokhodova, head of NNCI's career centre. "We're just letting it happen. What I'm basically trying to say is that as the NNCI student population matures and grows up, I expect them to stick with our career centre and its support, boosting their career opportunities in as yet unforeseen ways."
